Solution :Water free from cation `(Ca^(2+),MG^(2+)etc)` and ANIONS `(Cl^(-),SO_(4)^(2-),HCO_(3)^(-)etc).` responsible for hardness is known as de-ionised or demieralised water. It is formed by PASSING water SPECIALLY water repeatedly through cation and ANION exhanges. For more detail, consult section 9.10.
