1.

What is oxidising agent and reducing agent ? Explain with examples.

Answer»

Solution :.Which reactant accept electron and form reduction is known as oxidising AGENT...
"Which reactant lose electron and from oxidation is known as reducing agent...
The reactions shows under are redox reactions.

In above reaction, Na is attached with more ELECTRONEGATIVE element. So oxidation of Na is OCCUR and `Cl_(2),O_(2)` and S attached with more electropositive element so reduction of `Cl_(2),O_(2)` and S occurs.
Each process can be CONSIDERED as two seperate steps :

Here, in first STEP Na loses `e^(-)` and in second step `Cl_(2)` gain `e^(-)`.
Redox reaction is such reaction in which electron transfer into one reaction into another reaction.
