What is the difference between an ambidenate ligand and a chelating ligand? |
|
Answer» Solution :Ambidentate ligand: Ligands with has two different donor atoms and links to the metal ION through EITHER of them is called ambidenate ligand. For example `NO_2^(-) and SCN^(-)` . Chelating ligand: When a di- or polydenate ligand uses its two or more donor atoms simultaneously to BIND to a single metal ion, it is called a chelating ligand. For example: oxalate ion, ETHANE -1,2- DIAMINE. |
