What is the difference between phagocytosis and pinocytosis? What is the main way active transport differs from diffusion? What is the relationship between active transport and homeostasis?

Answer»

Phagocytosis means the ingestion of solid substance (food) by the cell. Pinocytosis, on the other hand, IMPLIES to the ingestion of liquid substance.ACTIVE transport of substances across the cell requires energy, for example, in the form of ATP. This is due to the reason that transport takes place against the concentration gradient. While in DIFFUSION, since the transport takes place according to the gradient no energy is required. To MAINTAIN homeostasis certain substances need to be transported or be present against the gradient and hence active transport is required.Hope it HELPS..✌
