What is the function of the appendix of our digestive system? |

Answer» (i) The appendix is a vestigial organ that was once used by our herbivorous ancestors. (ii) It was found that in herbivorous vertebrates the appendex is comparatively larger and it helped in the digestion of tough herbivorus food such as the bark of a tree. (iii) It is also supposed to be a store house of good bacteria. |
