What is the relationship between length of a conductor and its resistance? Write the experimental procedure to verify that relationship. |
|
Answer» 1. The resistance of a conductor is directly proportional to its length for a constant potential difference. 2. Take iron spokes of different lengths with same cross-sectional areas. 3. Make a circuit by connecting an iron spoke with battery, ammeter and switch in series. 4. Put the switch on and allow the current to pass in the circuit. Measure the ammeter reading. 5. Repeat this for other lengths of the iron spokes. Note the corresponding values of currents. 6. The resistance of each spoke increases with increase in the length of the spoke. |
