Answer» VARIATION of trend in non metals in groups:- Metallic CHARACTER decreases down the group since electronegativity decreases down the group as because the atomic size increases and Ionisation potential decreases. That's why electronegative character decreases so non metallic character decreases. Variation of trend in non metals in periods:- Non metallic character increases ALONG the period because there is DECREASE in electronegativity along the period. This is the REASON why ionisation potential decreases so electropositive character increases. |
