What made the Mizo leaders demand autonomy for their province? |

Answer» (i) When India became independent, the government gave administrative autonomy to the districts of Mizo majority areas of the Lushai hills. (ii) When the States Reorganisation Commission was appointed in 1954, the expectations of the people in this area grew. That is when the Mizo leaders started demanding an autonomous ‘Mizo’ province. |
