1.	What makes a glass different from a solid such as quartz? Under what conditions could quartz be converted into glass?
Answer» Glass is an amorphous solid in which the constituent particles (SiO₄ tetrahedra) have only short range order and there is no long range order. On melting quartz and then cooling it rapidly, it is converted into glass.
