What must be the temperature in Fahrenheit so that it will be twice its value in Celsius?

Answer»

Data: F = 2 C ∴ C = F/2, F = ?

\(\cfrac{F-32}9\) = \(\cfrac{C}5\)

∴ \(\cfrac{F-32}9\) = \(\cfrac{F/2}5\)

∴ F - 32 = \(\cfrac{9}5\) \((\cfrac{F}2)\) = 1.8 \(\cfrac{F}2\) = 0.9 F

∴ F – 0.9 F = 32

∴ 0.1 F = 32

∴ F = \(\cfrac{32}{0.1}\) = 320 \(^\circ\)F
