Answer» Since liquid and gases do not possess any length or shape or their own but possess only volume, hence bulk modulus of elasticity (B) is involved in case (a) and (b). Because by pulling the wire at its ends the length of the wire increases (i.e., there occurs a change in the length of the wire), hence young's modulus of elasticity is involved in case (c). In case (d), the modulus of rigidity is involved as there occurs a change in the shape of the book. |
