Answer» Robert Baldwin was fighting on two fronts at a time. He was very sincere and honest fellow. He was very loyal to his friendship and job as well. His friend was in the jail who wanted him to say in his favour. The family of Robert wanted to accept the money offered by John Gresham. Robert neither wanted to accept the money offered nor he wanted to witness in the court in the favour of John Gresham.
