Answer» Pari solemnly advised Geeta to keep her face always covered. On the way she pointed to various houses and havelies which belonged to one or the other close relatives of her husband. A confused Geeta wondered that the whole city belonged to her in-laws. All the other chief maids filled her mind with the norms and etiquettes of the haveli ‘Jivan Niwas’. परी ने गीता को गम्भीरता से समझाया कि वह अपना चेहरा सदा ढक कर रखे। रास्ते में जाते समय उसने अनेकों मकानों और हवेलियों की ओर इशारा किया जिसके स्वामी उसके पति के कोई न कोई सम्बन्धी थे। हैरान गीता ने सोचा कि समस्त शहर उसके ससुरालियों का है। अन्य सभी मुख्य सेविकाओं ने उसके मस्तिष्क को हवेली ‘जीवन निवास’ के सिद्धान्तों और शिष्टाचारों से भर दिया। |
