Answer» Solution :(a) Similarities (i) In both states , women and girls became Prime targets of persecution. (ii) Attackers treated women.s bodies as territory to be conquered. (III) Dishonouring women of community was seen as dishonouring the community itself and a mode of taking refenge. (b) Dissimilarities: (i) As carnages occurred in Calcutta and Noakhali in 1946, Partition was most bloodyand destructive in the Punjab. (ii) Unlike Punjab, in Bengal the division produced a process of suffering. The MIGRATION was moreprotracted as the people moved across a porous border. (iii)Bengali MUSLIMS rejected Jinnah.s two -NATION theory by breaking away from Pakistan and creating Bangladesh in 1971 -72. |
