His real name was Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, but people liked call him Veer Savarkar. He was a great warrior of freedom struggle. He not only took active part in many freedom movements, but also motivated thousands of youth to join the struggle. He published a book in Marathi language and described the revolt of 1857 as a war instead of a mutiny.
