There\xa0were\xa0also Bond slaves in the society, they\xa0were\xa0kept in chains and branded so that they could not escape.\xa0Rome treated its\xa0conquered\xa0lands with justice.\xa0Conquered people\xa0had to acknowledge\xa0Roman\xa0leadership, pay taxes, and supply soldiers. Rome let them keep their own customs, money, and local government. A few\xa0conquered people\xa0even got full citizenship.
