handragupta overthrew the Nanda dynasty and then ascended to the throne of the Magadha kingdom, in present-day Bihar state, India, about 325 BCE. Alexander the Great died in 323, leaving Chandragupta to win the Punjab region about 322.Under Ashoka the Great, the MAURYA EMPIRE expanded into the southern PART of the Indian subcontinent.
