There are different views about the time the Ramayana was written. Some people believe that it was written 2,500 years ago (around 500 BC). OTHERS THINK that it was written around 1,800 years ago. All agree that the book is very old and was written before the Mahabharata.

Although it's conception is still a point of debate. The CHARACTERS of Rama, Laxman, Sita, Dashratha etc. are well known in the later vedic works which are older than Valmiki himself. Although the vedas present no such story as mentioned in the Ramayana by Valmiki.

But when the positioning of Planets is analysed with Planetarium Software, the birth date of Lord Rama comes to 10th January, 5114 BC.
