Answer»

The amount of rainfall and its distribution decide the flood affected areas in India. More than 90 per cent of floods of India occur in the northern and north – eastern plains.

2. North – Easter n Plains: The overflow of River Brahmaputra causes floods in this area.

3. Central India region: Floods occur in this part of India due to overflow of the Rivers , Chambal, Son, Betwa, and Damodar.

4. Southern India region: The bank areas of rivers Godavari, Mahanadi, Krishna, Cauvery are included in this zone.
