1.

Which charging the lead storage battery______.

Answer»

`PbSO_(4)` anode is reduced to PB.
`PbSO_(4)` cathode is reduced to Pb.
`PbSO_(4)` cathode is oxidised to Pb.
`PbSO_(4)` anode is oxidised to `PbO_(2)`.

Solution :* The external current is passed through the cell when lead storage cell UNDERGOES charging process. And in such condition the opposite REACTION is observed with respect to normal reaction of batteries.
* In such cases, the reduction of `PbSO_(4)` gives Pb by following manner.
`PbSO_(4(S)) +2e^(-) to Pb_((S)) +SO_(4(aq))^(2-)`.
* Same electrode behave as anode when charging is not going on. So accordingly, reduction of original `PbSO_(4)` of anode into Pb is carried out. and hence, option (A) is RIGHT.
