Kidneys: The kidneys perform the very important job of removing both water as well as many salts such as potassium and sodium from our blood - this function can be replaced by dialysis but such treatment is exhausting as it has to be done for a few hours three times per week at least

Liver: The liver is an organ, unlike the kidneys, who’s function cannot be replaced by any synthetic machine. It is responsible for many actions. However, it purifies the blood by regulating cholesterol levels as well as metabolising chemicals and drugs, hence purifying the blood of any dangerous or noxious substances

Spleen: The spleen is a bit like a filter for the blood in terms of infection and the immune system. It also recycles red blood cells and stores platelets and white blood cells, the latter important for fighting infection

Lungs: The lungs rid the blood of carbon dioxide, produced by muscles and organs who need oxygen and energy to function. It also exchanges this carbon dioxide with oxygen; which as just mentioned is vital in supplying the body with energy

Stomach and small intestines: The stomach and small intestines absorbs sugars, fats and proteins into the blood which are of course needed for us to function in general
