This is because ethanol under reaction condition (OXIDISING) produces ethanal having `CH_(3)CO^(-)` group. ALSO any secondary alcohol having `CH_(3)-C-(OH)-` group also produces a KETONE having `CH_(3)CO^(-)` group on oxidation.
