The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is responsible for regulating civil aviation in India. 

Its functions include :

i. Regulation of air transport services to/from/within India; 

ii. Registration of civil aircraft in India; 

iii. Licensing of pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers and flight engineers; 

iv. Licensing of aerodromes in India; 

v. Investigation into air accidents and incidents; 

vi. Implementation of bilateral air services agreements
