Answer» This is part of the XML specification and a REQUIRED FUNCTIONALITY for any XML parser called attribute value normalization. It cannot be influenced by XSTREAM. A COMPLIANT XML parser will replace by default real tab, carriage return and line feed characters with normal spaces. If you want to keep these characters you will have to encode them with entities.
