Answer» Datta had already fallen a tin containing white enamel paint, right on the sacred photograph of the old man. Then he set about rescuing the picture in such desperate hurry that he made a worse mess of it. He rubbed the picture so hard with a cloth that he peeled off thin strips of filmy coating from its surface. Before he realised what he had done half the old man’s face and nearly all of his turban were gone. So, he sat with both hands clutching his head. दत्ता पहले ही एक सफेद एनामेल पेंट के डिब्बे को उस वृद्ध आदमी की पवित्र फोटो के ठीक ऊपर गिरा चुका था। फिर उसने तस्वीर को बचाने के लिए इतनी निराशा से जल्दी की कि उसने उसको अस्तव्यस्त कर दिया। उसने उस तस्वीर को एक कपड़े से इतना अधिक रगड़ा कि उसकी सतह से बहुत महीन पट्टी को उतार दिया। वह महसूस करता कि उसने वृद्ध आदमी के आधे चेहरे का क्या कर दिया था, उससे पहले ही, उसकी लगभग पूरी पगड़ी चली गई। अतः वह दोनों हाथों से अपने सिर को पकड़कर बैठ गया। |
