Answer» In the absence of her mother-in-law, Geeta got up earlier than usual because she had to look after the kitchen. As she reached the kitchen, Pariji had already taken out the day’s ration, vegetables, the ghee and the oil. Geeta had not the courage to instruct or disagree with the maids, specially Pari who knew better about the kitchen than she did. Though she had seen the cook spreading ghee on the servants’ rotis lavishly she did not have the courage to interfere. अपनी सासु माँ की अनुपस्थिति में आम दिनों की अपेक्षा गीता जल्दी उठ जाती थी क्योंकि उसे पाक-शाला की देखभाल करनी थी। जब वह पाकशाला पहुँची तो परी जी दिन भर का राशन, सब्जियाँ, घी और तेल पहले से ही निकाल चुकी थीं। गीता में किसी भी सेविका, विशेषकर परी जी, को आदेश देने या उनसे असहमत होने का साहस नहीं था जो पाक शाला के बारे में उससे अधिक जानती थी। यद्यपि उसने रसोईये को नौकरों की रोटियों पर जरूरत से अधिक घी लगाते देख लिया था, उसे हस्तक्षेप करने का साहस नहीं हुआ। |
