1.

Why does a reverse biased diode have very large value of resistance?

Answer»

Reversed bias as it apply on a PN junction is a condition where there is no current flowing. A condition where the junction barrier is at its widest or being far apart, a non-conducive condition for any electrons migration in a semi-conductor.

When compared to a material’s electrical characteristics, it is equivalent to a very poor electrical conductor, basically acting like as an insulator. A characteristic or behavior demonstrated by a very high opposition to the flow of electrons.
