Detailed Answer :

Anne believed that her personality was split into two. One side contained her exuberant cheerfulness, her flippancy, the joy in her life and above all, her great sense of humour. She cracked jokes and displayed affection. This side would lead her to appreciate flirtations, a kiss, an embrace and even off-colour jokes. She was only a thirteen year- old girl. She was a young and innocent girl, who was discovering the appeal of being a young girl at this age. She was quite curious about the physical and emotional changes taking place in her but was too shy to ask anyone about them. The other side of her was hidden, purer, deeper and finer. She was unable to confide in anyone. She felt all alone in the presence of others. She was fickle minded. She had mixed love and hate emotions for her mother, mostly hated. She always had a feeling that her mother liked Margot more than her. With the result she used to hurt her mother’s feeling deliberately and didn’t even bother to apologize. But sometimes she used to feel bad about her attitude towards her mother. She had varied emotions for Peter as well she found herself to be in love in with him, but, was scared of her father’s scoldings also.
