Why is it impracticable to connect an electric bulb and an electric heater in series? |
|
Answer» Following are the reasons due to which it is impracticable to connect an electric bulb and electric heater in series: (i) Heater and bulb have different resistances and the potential will drop according to resistances. (ii) If one appliance fuses, other will not run. (iii) Since effective resistance increases, current decreases and hence the power through each appliance. Also, they need currents of widely different values to operate properly. |
