Why is SO3 dissolved in H2SO4 not in water?

Answer»

trioxide is not directly dissolved in WATER to form SULPHURIC acid because when sulfur trioxide mixed with water it leads to the FORMATION of DENSE fog of sulphuric acid which is DIFFICULT to condense. And that vapours are very corrosive and can attack on everything to corrode it.
