Answer» The mistress of the haveli was quite old-fashioned in her thoughts, and couldn’t agree to the idea of a servant’s child going to school. Moreover the other servants resented the idea that gave Sita this extra privilege: Some women were of the view that servants’ daughters should serve in the haveli, so that physical labour would enable them to adapt to the village life which they were to lead later in life. हवेली की मालिकिन पारम्परिक विचारों की थीं। वह एक नौकरानी के बच्चे के स्कूल जाने के विचार से सहमत नहीं हो पायी। इसके अतिरिक्त, अन्य नौकरानियों को यह विचार ठीक नहीं लगा जिससे सीता को उनके बच्चों की अपेक्षा अधिक सुविधा मिले। कुछ स्त्रियों की यह राय थी कि नौकरों के बच्चों को हवेली में काम करना चाहिए जिससे शारीरिक श्रम उन्हें गाँव के जीवन के लिए अभ्यस्त बना दे जिसे उन्हें भविष्य में जीना था। |
