Answer» Due to surface tension , liquid try to minimize its surface area so rain drops are spherical Surface tension also plays important role in this phenomenon It is due to the teason that when the rain drops fall on the earth\'s surface then due to the gravitational force of the earth the drop feels a force acting downwatds and changes its position and a pointed closening on the outer surface(????) Raindrops start to form in a roughly spherical structure due to the surface tension of water. This surface tension is the "skin" of a body of water that makes the molecules stick together.
