1.

Why Real GNP is more important than nominal GNP?

Answer»

Real GNP rise only when there is rise in physical output during a year.

It is clear from the following points-

  • A country is interested in rise in physical output and not in monetary (Nominal GNP) as an increase real GNP leads to rise in living standards.
  • A rise real GNP reflects the economic growth whereas continues fall in it indicator of recession.
  • Real GNP eliminates the effect of change in prices.
  • It is used for comparisons internationally or inside the country.
