1.

Why the boiling point of ammonia is greater than phosphine?

Answer» Nitrogen is more electronegative as compared to phosphorous, hence ammonia `(NH_3)` is capable of forming hydrogen bonding whereas phosphine `(PH_3)` cannot form hydrogen bonding. Due to hydrogen bonding `NH_3` has much greater boiling point than phosphine.
