However, Jayachandra Kannauj refused to join him In the battle that took place Prithviraj defeated Mohammad Ghori. But he granted him mercy and let him off. Next year Mohammad Ghori challenged Prithviraj. In the second battle that ensued Prithviraj was defeated and killed. Soon Delhi was captured by Mohammad Ghori. This paved the way for the establishment of the rule of the Sultans of Delhi. Prithviraj was known for his chivalry and valour. Chand Bardai’s Prithviraj Raso is an Hindi epic which expounds his prowess.
