In India, planning started along with the establishment of Planning Commission on 15th March 1950. In reality, the requirement of planning was felt from the time of independence in 1947. Consequently, inspired by Soviet Union, a socialist country, the five – year plans were constituted in India. The cycle of planning started with second five year plan with the concept of Prof. PC.
