Our fishermen sometimes catch fishes before their maturity and our factories do not control the toxic industrial waste from flowing into the rivers.It is the duty of our riparian and coastal states to monitor and ensure that the ecology of these water bodies is better controlled as their wanton destruction is COSTING us dear, as is apparent from the virtual extinction or reduction in population of some species of fishes, like the Hilsa, Tenualosa Ilisha. The fish-eating people of this country will vouch how the flavour of the hilsa is also getting adversely affected over time. The ideal thing to do is for the GOVERNMENT to intervene in ensuring that STRICTER checks and controls are PUT in place in ensuring that the rivers and seas are not polluted any further and the fishes are allowed to grow and become mature for CULTIVATION. By taking proper measures, with the involvement of all stakeholders, we can ensure that fishing becomes a thriving industry for our country.
