Answer» In order to establish British sovereignity in India, Lord Dalhousie adopted other methods of annexing the states in the name of maladministration and by supplanting the long established right of an Indian soveregin without an heir to choose a successor which is known as Doctrine of Lapse. According to this policy, the states of Satara, Sambhalpur, Jhansi, Nagpur, Jaitpur, Udaipur, Baghar, Tanjore and Awadh were annexed in British Empire. |
