The source and sink relationship in plants is reversible because food SYNTHESISED in leaves (source) is first transported to growing parts and STORAGE organs (sink) and then back form sink (storage organs) to the growing parts at the time of need. This helps the plant to perform necessary LIFE activities and survive during unfavourable conditions when the rate of photosynthesis is low or negligible.
