Write a short note on the water harvestingstructures used in largely level terrains.

Answer»

In largely level terrains, the water harvesting structures mainly used are crescent shaped earthern embankments or low, straight concrete and rubber made check dams built across gullies flooded with water during rainy season. During seasonal monsoons, ponds get filled behind these structures. But most of these structures cannot hold water throughout the year. Their main aim is to refill the groundwater beneath the Earth's surface.
