Adipose tissue is a loose fibrous connective tissue.

Functions:

To store triglycerides(fats) in the form of single large droplet that occupies the major part of the cell.

To provide mechanical protection around some major organs. eg: kindney

Acts as an insulating layer. i.e. prevents the loss oof heat from the body.

It also acts as a means of energy storage.(the food excess to requirement is stored in the form of fat in adipocytes.)
