Answer» During Greek invasion, the North – West India was divided into several small kingdoms. There were 25 kingdoms in the North – West India during that time. These were Gandhar, Jhelum, Chenab, Peshawar, Taxila, western part of the river Ravi and Beas etc. Some of these kingdoms were republic and some had monarchy system. The rulers who belonged to monarchy system opposed the republicans. They fought with one another. In such political condition, Alexander arrived in India in 327 BCE. |
