Answer» Lyophilic and Lyophonic Colloids:- The classification of colloids is based on the attraction or the affinity of the affinity of the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium for each other. According to it the colloidal system and be divided into two main classes. (i) Lyophilic colloids (solvent loving colloids) i.e., which directly pass into colloidal state when brought in contact with solvent. For example gelatin, starch and albumins are water loving colloids (Hydrophilic). (ii) Lyophobic colloids (solven heating colloids) i.e., which are brought in colloidal state not so easily. For example metal, their hydroxides and sulphides are water heating colloids (Hydrophobic). |
