This poem has been composed by the poet John Milton who was born in 1608 and passed away in 1674. He was well-trained in classical language. His early poems had been written in Latin. On behalf of this poem the poet delivers an important message to the human being that there must be perfect faith in God in order to live a perfect life in this mortal world and to achieve salvation in this dispermanent world.

In the beginning of the poem the poet appears talking to God face to face and asks God the reason of his blindness and he introduces his works of present life which are perfect according to him. God stops the poet to say anything and commands him to do his allotted work patiently. At last God clears the poet that in order to become his true worshiper there must be perfect faith in the heart. The poet uses wonderful personification to create reality in his words. The language is direct and impressive and the Rhyming scheme is based on abba.

यह कविता कवि जॉन मिल्टन के द्वारा रची गई है जिनका जन्म 1608 में हुआ तथा 1674 में इनकी मृत्यु हुई। वह पारम्परिक भाषा में अच्छे प्रशिक्षित थे। उनकी प्रारम्भिक कविताएं लैटिन भाषा में लिखी गई थीं। इस कविता के माध्यम से कवि मानव को एक महत्त्वपूर्ण सन्देश देता है कि इस नश्वर संसार में पूर्ण जीवन जीने के लिए तथा मोक्ष प्राप्ति के लिए ईश्वर में अटूट विश्वास होना चाहिए। कविता के आरम्भ में कवि भगवान के समक्ष खड़ा हुआ प्रकट होता है तथा ईश्वर से अपने अंधेपन का कारण पूछता है तथा अपने वर्तमान जीवन के कार्य को श्रेष्ठ प्रस्तुत करता है।

लेकिन भगवान कवि को कुछ भी कहने से रोक देते हैं तथा उसे दिए गए कार्य को धैर्यपूर्वक करने का आदेश देते हैं। अन्त में भगवान स्पष्ट करते हैं कि भगवान का सच्चा भक्त बनने के लिए उसके दिल तथा दिमाग में भगवान के प्रति पूर्ण विश्वास होना चाहिए। कवि अद्भुत मानवीकरण प्रस्तुत करता है अपनी शब्द शैली में वास्तविकता का भाव पेश करने के लिए। कविता की भाषा प्रत्यक्ष तथा प्रभावशाली है और कविता की तुक योजना abba पर आधारित है।
