∴CA = CD = (x+ 2) m

In right ∆BCD,

CD^2= BC^2+ BD^2

⇒ (x+ 2)^2=x^2+ (10)^2

⇒x^2+ 4x+ 4 =x^2+ 100

⇒ 4x= 96

⇒x= 24

Thus, the depth of the pond is 24 m.
