The Editor The Times of India Lucknow Subject : The importance of national integration Sir No Nation can hope to survive if it is divided in itself and is not integrated. It has rightly been said that ‘United we stand, divided we fall’. Thus the importance of National Integration can never be gainsaid. Whatever part of the country we belong to must first of all consider ourselves to be Indians. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Punjab to the North Eastern states we are all one. We are all first Indians and only then we are Hindus, Muslims,Sikhs,Jains, Buddhist, Christians and others. If we have this feeling of national Unity, no outside force can hold any threat to us. But unfortunately some unscrupulous leaders try to fan the fire of communal hatred in order to gain their selfish ends. The government should come down heavily on such people.
