I know this is a weird question but when I learn a a concept for the first time I always have weird questions. Q- As this is true= Gametes are an organism's reproductive cells. They are also referred to as sex cells. Female gametes are called ova or egg cells, and male gametes are called sperm. Gametes are haploid cells, and each cell carries only one copy of each chromosome. So only the haploid cells resulting from meiosis can be called sex cells in this case. Then what is the name of the cell which is known to be diploid and divides into 4 daughter cells in meiosis? If it is a sex cell itself, then how can it be diploid if all sex cells are haploid. |
