Negative ways:

The Catholics were represented by Nationalist parties who wanted to be unified with the Republic of Ireland. In contrast Protestants were represented by Unionists who wanted to remain with the U.K. Hundreds of civilians, militants and security forces were killed in the fight between unionists and nationalists.

Answer»

If due to air drag, the orbital radius of satelite decreases from R to `R-DeltaR,DeltaRltltR`, then the expression for change is orbital velocity `Deltav` is [mass of earth M]:-A. `(DeltaR)/(2) sqrt((GM)/(R^(3)))`B. `-(DeltaR)/(2) sqrt((GM)/(R^3))`C. `DeltaRsqrt((GM)/(R^(3)))`D. `-DeltaRsqrt((GM)/(R^(3)))`

Answer» Correct Answer - A
`V=sqrt((GM)/(R))=sqrt(GM) R^(-1//2)`
`(DeltaV)/(V)=-(1)/(2)(DeltaR)/(R) necaise DeltaRrarrDeltaR`
`DeltaV=sqrt((GM)/(R))(DeltaR)/(2R)`
`DeltaV=sqrt((GM)/(R^(3)).(DeltaR)/(2)`

Two bodies of masses `M_(1)` and `M_(2)` are kept separeated by a distance d. The potential at the point where the gravitational field produced by them is zero, is :-A. `-(G)/(d)(M_(1)+M_(2)+2sqrt(M_(1)M_(2)))`B. `-(G)/(d)(M_(1)M_(2)+2sqrt(M_(1)+M_(2)))`C. `-(G)/(d)(M_(1)-M_(2)+2sqrt(M_(1)M_(2)))`D. `-(G)/(d)(M_(1)M_(2)-2sqrt(M_(1)+M_(2)))`

Answer» Correct Answer - A
`(GM_(1))/(x^(2))=(GM_(2))/((d-x)^(2))rArr(d-x)/(x)=sqrt((M_(2))/(M_(1))`
`rArr(d)/(x)=1+sqrt(M_(2))/(M_(1))rArrx=(sqrt(M_(1)d))/(sqrt(M_(1))+sqrt(M_(2)))`
Now potential `=-(GM_(2))/(x)-(GM_(2))/(d-x)`
`=(-G)/(d)(sqrt(M_(1))+sqrt(M_(2)))^(2)`

Why? (b) Which is the least reactive metal ? Why? (c) Which metals form brown layers ? (d) Arrange the metals A, B, C, D, E in the order of thier reactivity

Answer»

(a) Metal 'E' is more reactive among all the metals given because it displaces all the elements from the compounds given in the table.

(b) Metal 'C' is the least reactive metal because it does not displace any other metal from the compounds given in the table.

(c) Metals B and E will form brown layer.

(D) The ascending order is as follows C < A < D < B < E.

Here some molecules are given :(1) What type of hybridisations takes place in the above molecules ? (2) How many sigma bonds are formed in the above molecules ? What are they ? (3) Write the bond angles of the above molecules. (4) Which molecule has an empty orbital ?

Answer»

(1) sp hybridisation – BeCl

sp2 hybridisation – BF3

sp3 hybridisation – NH3

sp3 hybridisation – H2O

(2) i) BeCl2 → Two sigma (σ) bonds

→ σp – sp and σ sp – p

(ii) BF3 → Three sigma bonds

→ σp – sp2 and σp – sp2 and σ sp2 – p

(iii)NH3 → Three sigma bonds

→ σs – sp3 , σs – sp3 and σ sp3 – s

(iv)H2O → Two sigma bonds

→ σs – sp3 and σ sp3 – s

(3) BeCl2 → 180°

BF3 → 120°

NH3 → 107°48'

H2O → 104°31'

(4) BF3 has an empty orbital.

Distinguish between acids and bases.

Answer»
AcidsBases
1. An acid is a substance which gives H3O+ ions in water solution.1. A base is a solution which contains OH group in water solution gives hydroxyl ions OH .
2. Acids are sour in taste.2. Bases are bitter in taste.
3. Acid turns blue litmus to red.3. Bases turn red litmus to blue.
4. The orange colour of methyl orange indicator changes to red in acid medium.4. The orange colour of methyl orange indicator changes to yellow in bases medium.
5. Acid are formed when non-metal oxides are dissolved in water.5. Bases are formed when metal oxides are dissolved in water.
6. pH value of acid is less than 7.6. pH value of base is greather than 7.

What type of clothes should we wear in summer?

Answer»

During summer we should wear cotton cloths because they are good absorber of water. As  Cotton is a good absorber of water. Thus, it absorbs sweat from our body and exposes the sweat to the atmosphere, making its evaporation faster. During this evaporation, particles on the surface of the sweat gain energy from our body surface, making the body cool. Further light coloured clothes are poorer absorber of heat and would be better for summer.
