Many schools disciplinary problems result from emotional disturbance. It implies that1. Emotion has no place in the classroom2. Emotional outbursts should be punished3. Desirable emotional outlets should be provided4. Occasionals fits of laughter, crying etc., are normal aspects of the process of growth and should be ignored

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 1 : Emotion has no place in the classroom

Behaviour problems arise from external influences whose effects are not often noticed or understood by others. Often, emotional and psychological factors in apparently normal children are not readily seen or understood but are often labelled as depression, hostility, withdrawal or daydreaming to combat the stress. They may be battered and abused sexually, emotionally or physically. Most of these children are often in regular classrooms trying to cope with their problems (themselves) without being understood. Many disciplinary issues in schools are caused by emotional disturbances, implying that emotion has no place in the classroom.

  • Children who have problems at home or school require help. The first task of the teacher is to understand why the child has problems.
  • The teacher has to look for causes at school, home or within the child. To understand the child the teacher needs to be friendly with the child so that he can talk freely about his problems.
  • The teacher needs to talk to the family too, to find out whether there is any problem at f home. It is important to note that when a child is emotionally disturbed, it is not always possible to know the reasons.
  • Still, the teacher can use simple methods to ti resolve the problems and help the child. If these methods do not work, the child can be referred to a place where child mental health services are provided.
  • The child may be disturbed due to reasons that lie within the child, in the family, school or neighbourhood The child may be timid or anxious by nature or may have a low potential for intelligence may have some kind of brain damage at birth or later due to illness or injury.
  • But these kinds of problems in children may not cause disturbances unless the environment also becomes stressful.
  • Some factors that can cause emotional disturbances in some children are-
    • A punitive teacher (one who inflicts punishment)
    • A rigid routine
    • Unfriendly peers
    • Extreme poverty
    • Parental disharmony
    • Jealousy between siblings

Thus from the above-mentioned points, it is clear that many schools disciplinary problems result from emotional disturbance. It implies that emotion has no place in the classroom.

29.

The disciplinary rules and regulations in schools are made for1. Gentle students2. Stubborn students3. Students discipline committee4. All the students

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 4 : All the students

Even though a school is a part of the larger society, it represents a little society by itself. Teachers, students, other staff members of this little society interactively participate and contribute in their distinctive ways. A school follows its own rules, social setting and culture. It represents a "total institution" in the sense that any student coming from any social culture has to abide by the rules and regulations of the school and adjust to the distinct social milieu of the school for the limited period during which he/she stays at school. All in all, a school can be considered as a miniature society.

The disciplinary rules and regulations in schools are made for all the students, some of them are:

  • Students should always treat school staff with respect and be nice to their classmates.
  • Students will not cause any type of damage to school property. The school has the right to be paid for any such damages by the student.
  • Students will not litter and will keep the school grounds clean.
  • Unacceptable behaviour will result in serious disciplinary action, including but not limited to irregular attendance, academic dishonesty, and homework neglect, as well as disruptive behaviour, loitering, and disrespectful behaviour toward staff or fellow students.
  • Any type of bullying or ragging will be investigated by a disciplinary committee, with the possibility of expulsion and a negative conduct certificate.

Thus from the above-mentioned points, it is clear that the disciplinary rules and regulations in schools are made for all the students.

The most valid argument in support of the nursery schools as part of the public school system is that1. It provides custodial care for children2. It pursuits complete health care for youngesters before they enter grade one3. It promotes the all-round growth of the child4. It promotes readiness for school

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 4 : It promotes readiness for school

The process by which children are ready for school, the problem of school readiness itself, and the means through which government should address this issue. For instance, the idealist/nativist perspective frames this construct of readiness as being ‘a within-the-child phenomenon,’ which leaves little room for the role of environment in explaining a child’s readiness

  • Children are ready for school when their ‘level of development is ready'. The family, teacher and school system are absent in this understanding of school readiness. An empiricist conception of this construct views readiness as ‘something that lies outside the child’ meaning families, teachers, and their school programs prepare unready children to be ‘successful in a school context’ by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and experiences.
  • Through the empiricist lens, early education programs are framed as an apparatus that provide children with the skills, knowledge, and experiences needed to be ready for elementary school. Many of the current education reforms across the globe focus on ensuring young children are ready for elementary schools, such as preschool or prekindergarten.
  • A child's readiness for school is dependent on the social context in which s/he operates, and as such, a child can be seen as ready in one family and/ or community and not another.

Thus from the above-mentioned points, it is clear that the most valid argument in support of nursery schools as part of the public school system is that it promotes readiness for school.

Three components of school readiness were broadly described as follows:

  • Readiness in the child, defined by the following: physical well-being and sensory-motor development, social and emotional development, approaches to learning.
  • Schools’ readiness for children, illustrated by the following: smooth transition between home and school, understanding of early child development, use of high-quality instruction, strong leadership.
  • Family and community support that contribute to child readiness: Excellent prenatal care, optimal nutrition and daily physical activity, access to high-quality preschool and child care for all children.

"Banks are efficient medium of exchange." Support the statement with argument.

Answer»

Banks are efficient medium of exchange:

  1. Demand deposits share the essential features of money.
  2. The facility of cheque against demand deposit make it possible to directly settle payment without use of cash.
  3. Demand deposits are accepted widely as a means of payment.

Money is called a medium of exchange because it serves as a common mode through which people can buy what they want and sell what they have. The use of money removes the barter system and thus ended the concept of double coincidence of wants. Money makes it easier to carry out trading activities. It acts as an intermediate in the exchange process and facilitates the buying and selling of things. A person having money can buy anything that he/she wants, unlike in the barter system. He/she can sell his/ her goods in the market in exchange for money and can buy other things with that money. In simpler terms, money has made the exchange process simpler.

People deposit their money with banks by opening a bank account. Banks keep the money safe and provides interest on the deposited amount. The deposited money can be withdrawn from banks as when required on demand. Bank deposits also facilitate easy transfer of money through cheques, demand drafts and internet banking.

Banks keep only 15% of their total cash deposits to meet the everyday withdrawal demands of their customers. Major portion of the remaining deposits are used to give loans to people at specific rate of interest.
