व्याख्या: कवि बच्चों के सुकोमल शरीर का वर्णन करते हुए कहता है कि वे जन्म से ही कई के समान कोमल एवं नरम होते हैं पृथ्वी भी उनका कोमल स्पर्श करने के लिए लालायित रहती है। यह कविता धीरे- धीरे बिबों की एक ऐसी दुनिया में ले जाती है जहाँ शरद् ऋतु का चमकीला इशारा है, जहाँ तितलियों की रंगीन दुनिया है। जहाँ बच्चों के पैरों के पास पृथ्वी घूमती हुई प्रतीत होती है। बच्चे पतंग के पीछे नंगे पैर दौड़ते हैं और बेसुध से हो जाते हैं। वे छतों पर नंगे पैर भागकर छतों तक को नरम बना देते हैं। वे दिशाओं को भी मृदंग की तरह बजाते हैं अर्थात् उनकी दुनिया बड़ी रंगीन है जहाँ दिशाओं रूपी मृदंग बजते हैं। वे इस प्रकार बड़े चले आते हैं जैसे कोई पेड़ की डाल पर झूला झूलते समय शो बढ़ाता है। उनका साहस इतना बढ़ जाता है कि उनके पैर छतों के उन खतरनाक किनारों तक पहुँच जाते हैं जहाँ से गिरने का भय रहता है। उस समय उन्हें इस खतरे से उनके शरीर का संगीत ही बचाता है। इससे वे भय पर विजय पा जाते हैं। उन्हें थामने का काम केवल पतग कर लेती है और यह पतग स्वयं भी एक धागे कै सहारे उड़ती रहती है। इन पतंगों के सहारे बच्चे भी उड़ते प्रतीत होते हैं। पतंग उड़ाते बच्चे यदि कभी छत के खतरनाक किनारों से गिर भी जाते हैं तो भी वे साफ बच जाते हैं। इस अवस्था में उनकी हिम्मत और भी बढ़ जाती है। वे उस समय सुनहले सूरज के सम्मुख आ खड़े होते हैं और उनके बेचैन पैरों के पास धरती घूमती हुई स्वयं चली आती है। पृथ्वी का हर कोना खुद --ब-खुदउनके पास चला आता है। वे फिर से नई पतंगों को उड़ाने का हौसला लिए आ खडे़ होते हैं।
